Ros Harvey, Founder and Managing Director of The Yield, addressed the Australian Farming Institute Digital Disruption in Agriculture Conference in Sydney on 2 June, 2016. Ros spoke in the opening session on the future of digital agriculture and the implications for Australia. A major theme was that Australia is well placed to be a world leaderin digital agriculture with its innovative agriculture sector driven by an open economy, constraints oninputs like water and the impact of climate change. "Australian growers are innovative because they have to be" Ros said at the conference. Australians are well known for being early adopters of technology but agriculture is still a long way behind digitally-intensive industries like finance. "Good connectivity in the bush is a precondition for achieving this potential' she said. Ros highlighted the Food Agility consortium as an opportunity to accelerate digital-agriculture in Australia.
