UPDATE: The UNE SRI Agrifood TrainHack has been postponed until February 2020 due to the state-wide impact of the NSW bush fires and concerns about participant safety. New dates will be confirmed by the event organisers in due time. Our thoughts remain with those people and communities affected by the recent fires. Get on Board the TrainHack – Fast Tracking a Better Future for Agriculture
As an Innovation Partner, we are excited to be part of Australia’s first-ever Agrifood TrainHack. A delegation from The Yield will join the on board datahack event starting on 29 November, when the train departs Sydney's Central Station bound for Armidale. The event will continue the following day at the University of New England's SMART Farm.
TrainHack will bring together students, experts, entrepreneurs, data scientists and future-facing farmers who will explore data and create value for the future of agriculture. Participants will get access to never-before-combined data sets including weather, production and environmental information, while being guided by experts in agriculture, technology and design-led development.
On track and under pressure, the competing teams will be looking for unique data correlations, building innovative solutions that could help the business of farming be more productive and sustainable. On the table is a $20,000 prize pool and hopefully the birth of an idea that will change the face of Australian agriculture.
Ros Harvey, CEO of The Yield was very supportive of the Agrifood TrainHack event and keen to see the outcomes of the three day event.
“We are excited to be involved with this unique concept. The collective minds and skillsets of those involved are sure to generate interesting and new approaches for Australian agriculture. We look forward to the learnings and results of this event”, Ms Harvey said.
The Yield will join Food Agility CRC, UNE SRI and a host of industry leaders, sponsors and supporters who are leaders in precision agriculture and technology including FluroSat, Amazon Web Services, Frontier SI, Data Farming and Australian Community Media.
Agrifood Trainhack is a 550km train journey across the Northern Tablelands of NSW, where landscapes will change, ideas will emerge, problems will be solved and the future of Australian agriculture will be transformed.
