Ros founded The Yield in 2014. Here she transforms agricultural practices through scalable digital technology, data and insights to solve real challenges for growers, and throughout the food chain.
She is an experienced entrepreneur and executive in the field of technology – particularly machine learning and user-centric design. Ros is committed to creating public good through the innovative use of technology, which is reflected throughout her diverse career.
Ros founded the globally recognised Better Work program, a landmark joint program of the World Bank and the United Nations. Ros also co-founded the Food Agility Cooperative Research Centre and the Knowledge Economy Institute for which she remains an active non-executive director and strategy advisor, respectively.
In 2018, Ros was named one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 most influential women and awarded the emerging leader in technology at the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards. In 2021, Ros featured in the Top 100 Innovators List by The Australian.
Chris is a founding shareholder of The Yield and joined the team as the Chief Technology Officer in 2018. Chris is an experienced engineer and enterprise architect with a background in Big Data and Analytics systems.
Before joining The Yield, Chris consulted to the NSW Government and designed and implemented the technology for the NSW Data Analytics Centre. He previously managed the team who created the largest historical database of stock market data in the world and supplied trading data via Thomson Reuters globally. This system held over 1000 trillion records and captured 2m records per second at peak from NYSE.
Prior to this, Chris was GM of one of Canon’s prestigious overseas research and development centres (CiSRA).
He holds an honours degree (cum laude) in Electrical Engineering and has degrees in Computer Science and Physics.
Thashnie Angus is Finance Director at The Yield Technology Solutions having joined in August 2022.
She is a highly qualified finance professional and Certified Practicing Accountant that specialises in business strategy, commercial business partnering, and strategic planning and forecasting.
She has worked for a range of large organisations both in Australia and overseas, including experience gained in Category, Portfolio and Channel Strategy with QSR International and Hallmark.
Thashnie held a Commercial Director role with Tupperware ANZ, and she headed the Commercial Finance and Legal team globally at QSR International. She also held several finance and commercial positions with Hallmark Cards where she worked for 10 years.
Thashnie is a well-rounded commercial business leader, with extensive financial and commercial experience and a solid track record of delivering business results through a strong work ethic, cross functional collaboration, clear communication, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
Darren joined The Yield in 2019. He is a seasoned and dynamic executive with a proven track record in driving operational excellence and transformative initiatives.
As the former Vice President of Delivery and Operations at Optus, he led the successful execution of annual hardware and software development programs, overseeing the national supply chain. In his role as Group Head of Transformation at Qantas, Darren played a pivotal role in spearheading and implementing large-scale change initiatives.
His expertise also extends to the financial sector, where he held a senior position within NAB AgriBanking. With a keen eye for innovation and a results-driven approach, Darren brings invaluable leadership to every endeavour he undertakes.
He holds a degree in Science, and an MBA. He is AICD qualified and recently studied environmental sustainability at Stanford.
Ryan brings deep industry and technical expertise to the role of Chief Product Officer. He joins The Yield from his role as Director of Enterprise Planning Solutions for Driscoll’s, a global leader in fresh berries.
In his early career, Ryan worked in Driscoll’s genetics research and R&D with nursery production. He also worked in operations including as District Manager in one of Driscoll’s largest production areas in Baja (including grower relations, production, processing and marketing). Ryan has worked extensively with contract growers across Driscoll’s global operations.
Ryan was selected and trained by Driscoll’s as a Business Transformation Leader. He led multi-million-dollar digital transformation projects including the building of the digital systems to support Driscoll’s integrated business planning.
Ryan is a qualified Plant Protection Science (Fruit Science) graduate from California Polytechnic State University and a licensed Californian Pest Control Advisor.
Helen Mihelic joined The Yield in 2018, initially taking on the role of Product Delivery Manager responsible for the data science and software engineering team. Following her exceptional leadership, Helen became The Yield's Head of Product Management and brings our product roadmap to life.
With over 15 years of business analysis and project management expertise, Helen has honed her skills in big data and analytics. Prior to joining The Yield, she served as Head of Delivery at RoZetta Technology, and as Senior Business Analyst at SIRCA, where she spearheaded the successful global delivery of a platform now utilized by some of the world's foremost financial institutions.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hons, Mathematics and Philosophy from Leeds University, UK.
Evan Webster, has been an integral part of our team since 2018. In addition to over 12 years of industry experience, Evan has a distinguished academic background - a PhD in Geography, a Masters in Spatial Information and a degree in Technology - making him a valuable member of our leadership team.
Before joining The Yield, Evan served as a Post Doctoral Researcher at The University of New South Wales where he developed innovative real-world data science solutions for WaterNSW and Department of Primary Industries. Beyond academia, Evan worked for the Australia and New Zealand retail pharmacy channel, applying his knowledge to building business-driven production models to reduce costs and drive sales growth.
Evan has led The Yield's data science team's development of harvest and weather predictive forecast models, working closely across many specialty crop customers. Supported by his team and the latest technologies, Evan ensures that our data science solutions are efficient, robust and meet agricultural customer and industry needs.
Kate joined The Yield in 2019 as Research Manager to deliver The Yield's R&D projects in the Data Science team. She has since followed her passion for data and communication as our Data Engagement Manager. Bringing it all together, Kate leverages her art of translating the technical to non-technical language, to help our customers realize the value of the data across their agribusiness.
Before joining The Yield, Kate worked as a Researcher with academic and government organisations to build models to predict the movement of large sharks to support public safety and enable conservation planning. These projects are successfully being applied by policy makers across the world.
In parallel, as a Masters Lecturer at Macquarie University, Kate fostered her skills to interpret and explain complex environmental and data concepts to help her students understand scientific principles and methods. This honed Kate's ability to bridge the gap between data, people and insights from data for real-world applications.
Kate has a PhD in Marine Science from Macquarie University (NSW), a Bachelor of Science, and Honors in Biology from Kings College London (UK)
